solid.Shape.fillet
solid.Shape: S = fillet (S, E, R)
Round edges of a shape to a radius.
S = fillet (S, E, R) rounds the edges
of S indexed by E, as solid.Shape.edges returns
them, to the radius R millimetres. An outside edge loses
material and an inside edge gains it, as a fillet on a casting or a
radius left by a cutter does. Where rounded edges meet at a corner the
corner is blended.
An edge is rounded together with every edge that runs on from it smoothly, tangent where they meet, as Open CASCADE rounds a chain. On a box whose upright edges are already rounded, choosing one top edge rounds the whole top rim.
A radius too large for the faces beside an edge cannot be built and raises an error, as does an edge that cannot be rounded at all.
## A block with its four upright edges rounded to 5 S = solid.box (40, 30, 10); S = fillet (S, edges (S, 'Direction', [0, 0, 1]), 5); numfaces (S) ⇒ 10 |
